Biography and Citation Information:
Henry invests in the Auburn and Owasco Canal and is part of the canal's Board of Directors, elected in 1835.
Henry's father was Col. Christopher Yates (see Find-A-Grave link below) and his mother was Jannetje (Jane) Bradt. Henry's siblings were the Rev. Andrew Yates, Joseph Christopher Yates (b. 1768), and Johannes Barentse Yates (1784-1836). Joseph Christopher was the mayor of Schenectady, a state senator and judge, and J. Barentse married Mary Skelding. Johannes Barentse also invested in canal work and had an extensive estate when he died.
Henry's son, Edward, married Elizabeth Jane Miller (the half-sister of Abijah Miller, Jr.).
