Charles Grandison Finney
Birth: 8-29-1792
Death: 8-16-1875
Biography
Preacher in Auburn in 1826, 1827, and 1831. During his fist period there, 1826 and 1827 he was not well received, but he was more liked on being invited back in 1831. He married three times: Lydia Andrews (m. 1824, d. December 1847), Elizabeth Ford Atkinson (d. 1863), and Rebecca Allen Rayl who survived him. He spent much of his life in Oberlin, OH, where he died in 1875. Mentioned in 18270709LCC_FMS1 when Rev. Sitgreaves makes clear his opinion "very freely of Lansing & Finney & finally of all the Presbyterians." Dirck C. Lansing was a Presbyterian minister in Auburn who was "aided" by "the Evangelist," "Mr. Finney" (*cough) "only once" in 1826 (according to the History of Cayuga County).
