Frank Hastings Hamilton

Biography
Renowned American surgeon practiced in upstate New York from 1840 to 1859 before moving to New York City. Pioneered the use of ether as an anesthetic. Taught at Auburn Female Seminary and gave a lecture [https://ia601605.us.archive.org/33/items/2164041R.nlm.nih.gov/2164041R.pdf] May 30th, 1838... but for how long he taught there is indeterminate: Frances mentions a scandal in 18380711FMS_WHS where Mr Hosmer (Rev. William Hosmer?) has a disagreement "with the trustees of the Female Seminary because he refuses to dismiss Hamilton and Smith." So maybe he was terminated. Married to Mary Virginia Hamilton, died 1838. married Mary Gertrude Hart Hamilton in 1840.
