Brother of ExM, "Uncle Lewis" in 18220707LMW_FMS1 Lewis Titus Miller married Mary Delavan (1796-1837), Daughter of Thompkins Close Delavan and Esther Jessup.

  • Lewis and Mary had four children: Lazette Mariah Miller and Tompkins Delevan Miller and William Henry Miller and Elizabeth Miller.
  • He moved in 1833 to what became Moscow, Hillsdale County, Michigan and was given land to cultivate. He worked as a famed throughout his life. He also played a prominent role in his community.
  • Miller contributed to the founding of the Hillsdale County Agricultural Society
  • After Mary died in 1837, he married a second woman, Emily Richardson

Obituary in letter from Frances Seward to Augustus Seward dated August 16, 1857. "On the 14th ult., of general debility, at Moscow, Hillsdale county, Michigan, Hon. LEWIS T. MILLER, aged 70 years. Judge Miller was one of the oldest settlers in that county, and was the son-in-law of that aged and respected citizen, Dr. T.C. Delavan. He removed from Seneca county, N.Y., in 1831, and moved into the town of Moscow in 1832, when only two lots of land had been entered from Government in that town. He held at various times important offices, and among these he was a member of the Legislative Council of this State-member of the Constitutional Convention in 1835, and Associate Judge of Hillsdale county. In politics he belonged of late years to the Democratic party. Judge Miller was the uncle of the Hon. Wm. H. Seward.
