Biography
James Lockhart was born in Auburn, New York. He ran a wool mill in Ithaca before moving to Indiana in 1832. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1834. He was elected to the 32 Congress representing Indiana. He supervised the construction of the Marine Hospital and was elected to the 35 Congress.
