Henry Bradley

Biography
Born in Genoa, NY, but moved to small village of Penn Yan, NY in 1823. He was already a merchant, having worked as a clerk for his brother-in-law's store, so he brought with him wagons full of goods to set up a store in the village. He was a very successful businessman in the town, but is better remembered for is his twin ideals of temperance and the abolition of slavery. His house was a well-known stop on the Underground Railroad. He ran for Governor of New York on Liberty Party ballot in 1846. He was in touch with prominent abolitionists as the movement gained support. He is mentioned in 1835 FMS Diary.
