Biography

Graduated from Hamilton College in 1819. His law practice began in Utica, NY after studying law with Judge Morris of Ostego County. In 1835 he moved to New York and practiced law there until 1849. In 1849 he made the long voyage by sea to San Francisco, CA, where he opened a law office. He was soon after appointed Judge of the County and Probate Courts. Because San Francisco and the surrounding area was not very settled, Morrison had to decide many important questions of law and equity. He died from paralysis.
