Biography

Elizabeth Jane Yates (nee Miller) was the half-sister of Abijah Miller, Jr. She had one child with Edward Yates, named Mary Yates, who later married Septimus Henry Norris. Her husband's father was Henry C. Yates (1770-1854) of Schenectady, whose brothers Johannes Barentse, Joseph Christopher, and Rev. Andrew, were all very well known and successful. She is referenced in Fanny Adeline Seward's 1862-1863 diary, and Frances Miller Seward mentions her in a letter ot William Henry Seward in December 1832.
