Biography

A servant of the Seward's in the 1840s, apparently from Albany. She married Nathan Barton Loughborough after his previous wife, Margaret Loughborough, died in June 1854. In 1855 New York Census, Abigail is listed as Nathan Barton's wife. In letter written by Frances Miller Seward to Augustus Henry Seward, dated January 6, 1855, Abbey is "keeping house" with Barton and his children.
