Samuel Stevens
Birth: 9-1-1794
Death: 9-11-1854
Biography
The speaking stones website contains good information about Samuel Stevens. I tried to find more information about his activities in politics, however, and was hard-pressed to find anything concrete. Political graveyard lists two entries for "Samuel Stevens" that may describe Samuel Stevens in question. They are: " Stevens, Samuel — of Washington County, N.Y. Member of New York state assembly from Washington County, 1825, 1827. Burial location unknown. Stevens, Samuel — of Albany County, N.Y. Member of New York state assembly from Albany County, 1844. Burial location unknown." Sam was born in Washington County and lived in Albany (according to his gravestone). For this reason, I believe both the Political Graveyard entries describe our Sam; perhaps should be combined into one.

Biography:
Possibly found in 18340710BJS_WHS1. BJS tells Henry the gossip about the New York candidates for the Congress election of '34: "Collier has been spoken of. Sam S. also and Granger, of course, & though you say he will in no event be a candidate, Hazeltine says he speaks advisedly when he says that he may
become a candidate."
