Biography
James Brooks was born in Portland, Maine on November 10, 1810. He became a US Congressman, representing New York from 1849-1853, 1863-1866, and then again from 1867-1873. Right before his death, he was censured by Congress for his involvement in the Credit Mobilier bribery scandal. He died while in office on April 30, 1873 and is currently buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
