Biography

He served in the NY State Senate from 1838-1841 as a Whig politician. When he left in 1841, FMS wrote that she was sorry he and his wife were leaving the city. FMS referred to him as "General Lee" and she admired his "benevolent expression – and kind heart." He and his wife had multiple children, three of whom died in infancy, and one who passed away at 24 years old in 1840. After leaving the Senate, he worked as a Judge at the Washington County Court from 1847-1851.
