Ebenezer Pierce was a brigadier general from Massachusetts during the Civil War. He authored numerous historical books. He is mentioned in a 1861 letter of June from FMS to WHS as a General subject to speculation as people did not know much about him. His horse, possibly named Midnight and possibly the same horse that he rode during the Civil War, is buried with him (or possibly with his parents).
