Smith Pyne

Biography
He was an Episcopal reverend who served parishes in Washington DC and NYC. From 1845 to 1865 in DC, he was rector of the St. Johns Episcopal Church on 16th and H St where Clarence Armstrong Seward went in 1850. St John's Church was known as "the Church of the Presidents" because so many presidents/politicians attended. Dr. Pyne gave addresses at the funerals of President Jackson and Taylor, and First Lady Dolley Madison.
