Biography

Hezekiah Stites Woodruff was the son of Hezekiah Woodruff (~1722-1796) and Mary Stites (daughter of John Stites) presumably born in Westfield NJ. He seems to have learned medicine from his Uncle, Hezekiah Stites who was a "practitioner of Surgery and Physick." H.S. Woodruff then went on to practice medicine and married Mary Blanchey (~1759-1825, daughter of Dr. Ebenezer Blanchey 1735-1805 ) on May 11, 1776. It seems that H.S. Woodruff served as a surgeon and general practioner during the revolutionary war.
