Biography
Laura Mather Brown was the only daughter of Jim Brown, an Ohio counterfeiter, and his wife the former Lucy Mather. She was a talented artist, and married another accomplished artist, John Peter Frankenstein, on October 28, 1849. In 1859, Laura obtained a decree of divorce from her husband John due to his "habits and conduct proving uncongenial and offensive." A year after receiving her divorce, she married Professor Charles Bronson, a teacher and lecturer of elocution.
