Biography

Thomas Fitnam was born in Ireland, but moved to Washington DC before 1850, according to census records. He worked as a clerk in the Pension Office in the early 1850s, and was the US Consul in Gaspe from 1861-67 and Saint Helena from 1868-76. He married Bridget Fitnam in 1828, and they had one son, Thomas Fitnam, in 1828.
