Biography

Ebenezer Platt Rodgers served as pastor for the First Reformed Dutch church of Albany in the 1850s while Willie Jr. lived in Auburn, N.Y. In a letter from Willie to Frances (18580411WSJ_FMS), he states that he went to hear a sermon by Dr. Rodgers, "whose c[h]urch is close by my boarding house." In 1862, Rodgers relocated to New York City, where he "accepted charge of the South Reformed church."
