Emile Souvestre

Biography
Emile Souvestre was born and died in France. At a young age he became proprietor of a newspaper, and then a professor. He then became an author, publishing more than forty books, plays, short stories, and historical works. Some of his most famous works include: L'Echelle de Femmes, Les Derniers Bretons, Pierre Landais, Le Foter Breton, Un Philosophe sons les Toits (translated into An Attic Philosopher in Paris), and Recits et Souvenirs. In the 1850s he lectured partly in Paris, partly in Switzerland, until his death in 1854. After his death, his wife was awarded the Lambert prize in his honor.
