Robert Charles Winthrop Jr. was the son of Robert Charles Winthrop and Eliza Cabot Blanchard Winthrop. He studied law at Harvard University. He married Frances Pickering Adams in 1869. After Adams death, he married Elizabeth Mason. He "eventually settled in Massachusetts."
