My very dear William Henry
Yours of the 20th Bate & McKissock of the 25^th Ult have
been received giving the case and statement of Costs of our
Wood & Wood suit in Chancery & Court of Errors up to this
date and I have this day deposited in the Bank of Orange
County $524.55 and forwarded to Bate & McKissock my
draft for that amount in full of said costs as per your
statement - Which amount I have no doubt they have
reserved - Attempting to support a suit on so plain
an action is a flagrant fraud by D. B. Wood He knows
well the day he came to my house to pay his interest
that I was violent sick deranged nervous & incapable of any
[ bu ] siness - He took up and had in his possession the Bond
[ a ] nd Mortgage - a Receipt for every cent he had
ever paid me - This he admited to be the fact - The
whole mistake was laid before them in presence of
Roger Howell Esq Houston Archibald Brown and
George W Seward - He was requested to choose a
competent man & come and settle – Esquire Curtice
was named to him as a first rate accountant - to attend
if honest why did he not attend when so often car-
ried on - He was A rogue and meant to defraud
The opinion of the Vice Chancellor that I had not
proved enough was certainly erroneous Daniel
B. Wood had and has now every document in
his own hands to show the whole transaction let
the right fall where it may why not bring
these forward

They were warned of the coming sorrows
of delay putting [ of ] an examinati-
on and incurring the danger &
Great expense of procrastinated suit
They had the Bond and Mortgage
The Reciepts and every other
paper in their own hand to settle
honestly by they were often solicited
to allowed to promised to attend &
as often forfeited their words and
turned revenant to their own
consciouses which taught them better
Why shrin[ k ] from this obviously
plain simpathetic duty if it was not
in their hearts to defraud
A neighbor of Jacob Feagles a
friend of mine lately told me
that Mr Feagles told him he was in
possession of strong testimony in my
favor in this suit – How far this
can be relied on you will judge
I know that Feagles was present
when D B Wood was called on at
Esque Houstons, to rectify the error and
the papers were exhibited and Wood

Promised to come down and attend to it
I have been very unwell lately and
very much engaged with business and
daily more incapable to attend to it
I am very desirous to hear how far you
have recovered your injury - I am
daily more convinced of ener-
getick steps being taken to close up my
real Estate before all is gone and as soon
as you are shall be able to attend to it
I am still of opinion that if our real Estate in
Orange County could be sold even at a moderate
price and the amount vested in safe funds [ i ] t
would be of vast interest to the family – For
industry economy and honorable living
The Rasically govern goverment of the United States
and from that down to the Town of Warwick
there is not a movement of principle and I
would far rather sit down by the side of an
honorable man in one of the Custom of Switzer
land than remain in Florida and endure
the insults of Loco Foco Dick Jennings & Stephen
Dusenburry - I hope to see you when the spring
brakes - and consult for the best the few days I
have to continue - Julia can scarcely walk the floors.
Fanny is laid up with the Bilious Fever - A house full
